Australian all-rounder and former Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate Glenn Maxwell dropped star Indian batsman Virat Kohli on the last ball of the 26th over during India’s run-chase against Australia in the first semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025.
The broadcasters’ cameras immediately turned to show Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood actress and Kohli’s wife.
Her reaction to the occasion was priceless, and she appeared to be really delighted that her husband was receiving extra batting time. She was seen laughing heartily at the pivotal opportunity that Cooper Connolly’s bowling had shelled off. Notably, throughout their time together at RCB in the Indian Premier League, Kohli and Maxwell have grown close.

Kohli closed the bat face a little too soon to provide a leading edge as he tried to whip the ball towards long-on. To hold onto the ball, Maxwell, who was positioned at short mid-off, threw himself to his right. But when the half-chance went begging, the ball did not adhere to his right hand. The fact that Connolly moved to his left may have diverted Maxwell’s attention and caused him to make his move a little sooner.
