In the ongoing match between the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 20, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt on the last ball of the first over of the second innings. For one of three deliveries, Salt was fired.
Salt was caught off guard when Arshdeep Singh blasted one into the pitch.
He attempted to pull the ball towards the fence, but his eyes were fixed on midwicket rather than the ball. After the ball touched the bat, Josh Inglis used the gloves to finish the job behind.
In the last five Twenty20 matches against Salt, Arshdeep had taken his wicket four times before Salt was dismissed. While RCB was chasing the 158-run target PBKS set in the current game, the left-arm pacer got his team started to just the start they would have desired.
RCB chose to field first after winning the toss earlier in the evening. The top scorer for the home team was Prabhsimran Singh (33 off 17). Shreyas Iyer, the captain, made six of ten deliveries, which was disappointing. In the end, Marco Jansen (25* off 20) and Shashank Singh (31 off 33) remained undefeated.
The two best players were Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya, who each took two wickets while giving up just 25 and 26 runs, respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s four-over spell cost him just 26 runs.
This is the second time in three days that PBKS are playing against RCB. The former prevailed in their encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by five wickets and 11 deliveries to spare after rain shortened the game to a 14-overs-a-side contest. Tim David was presented the Player of the Match accolade for his excellent outing with the bat.
