Some of the top international cricket players from the 2024 season will be featured at the BCCI’s Naman Awards tomorrow. For Indian cricket, the past season has been outstanding, and the BCCI is eager to honour some of these legendary players’ finest achievements.
Jasprit Bumrah, who was already named the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year, will also receive the Polly Umrigar Best Male International Cricketer of the Year award for his outstanding performance, and Smriti Mandhana will receive the Best International Cricketer of the Year (Female) award for her phenomenal 743-run performance in 2024.
According to reports, the board also gave Ravichandran Ashwin a special recognition.
One month ago, during the third Test match against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide, the spin bowling all-rounder announced his retirement from international cricket. With 287 games played, the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer took 765 wickets, making him the second-highest wicket-taker in Indian international cricket. He also won the ICC trophy twice before retiring from the game. In addition, Deepti Sharma will win an award for returning with the most wickets in the 2023–24 season, and Sarfaraz Khan and Asha Shobhana will earn trophies for outstanding international debuts.
The CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award will also be handed to cricket’s god, Sachin Tendulkar, during the ceremony in recognition of his remarkable career and performances throughout the course of his 24-year international career, during which he scored over 34,000 runs in all game types.
