India won their place in the Asia Cup 2025 final with a comprehensive 41-run victory over Bangladesh in Dubai. A stunning knock from Abhishek Sharma and a great effort by the spinners secured the victory, ensuring India’s status as the tournament’s most consistent squad.
Bangladesh, chasing their first Asia Cup final appearance, won the toss and decided to field. Meanwhile, India’s innings was underpinned by Abhishek Sharma’s knock, as they reached 168/6.
Abhishek, coming off a massive score against Pakistan, hit 75 off 37 balls against Bangladesh, including six fours and five sixes. His stand with Shubman Gill (29 off 19) helped India reach 72 on the powerplay.
Gill crashed when attempting to go big off Rishad Hossain, and the promoted Shivam Dube did not stay long. But Abhishek maintained his momentum, scoring 50 off 25 balls and leading India to 112/2 by the 11th over. Rishad’s superb fielding turned the flow of the game.
From there, India’s middle class crumbled. Captain Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Axar Patel were unable to contribute as they had hoped. Hardik Pandya’s 38 off 29 at the back end helped the Men in Blue finish at 168/6. Rishad Hossain (2/27) was Bangladesh’s best bowler, but Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mohammad Saifuddin all took vital wickets.
Chasing 169, Bangladesh never got going against India’s attack. Jasprit Bumrah removed Tanzid Hasan in the second over. Kuldeep Yadav then dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon (21) and later ran through the lower order.
Saif Hassan played a fighting knock by scoring 69 off 51 balls with three fours and five sixes. He reached his fifty in 36 balls and looked the only batter capable of challenging India’s total. However, with wickets falling around him, including those of Shamim Hossain, Towhid Hridoy, and skipper Jaker Ali, Bangladesh’s chances diminished.
Varun Chakravarthy (2/29) and Axar Patel (1/37) kept the pressure before Kuldeep’s twin strikes in the 17th over ended Bangladesh’s hopes. Bumrah returned to remove Saif in the 18th over with Bangladesh eventually bundling out for 127, losing their last five wickets for just 40 runs.
