The World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings have changed somewhat as a result of Australia’s decisive 3-0 series win over the West Indies, allowing them to maintain their lead.
Australia completed the clean sweep with a 176-run victory in the third Test at Sabina Park, which was the venue’s first day-night Test. Mitchell Starc, a left-arm bowler, delivered a record-breaking stint, taking five wickets in 15 balls in his 100th Test match. His scorching effort decimated the West Indies batting line-up, limiting them to only 27 runs, the second-lowest total in Test cricket history.
This was Australia’s first assignment of the current WTC cycle, and they won convincingly, 3-0. Their next red-ball assignment will be the Ashes, which begin on November 21 in Perth. Meanwhile, the West Indies will play two Tests in India in October.
In another World Cup match, England defeated India by 22 runs in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s, putting them ahead 2-1 in the five-match series.
India needed to chase 193 in the fourth innings, but were bowled out for 170 despite a strong lower-order performance. England captain Ben Stokes led from the front with an all-round performance, bowling 14 overs in a row, while the pitch on Day 5 provided unexpected help to the English bowlers early in the day.
India lost vital wickets on Day 5 morning, including KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar, putting the visitors in a difficult situation. However, Ravindra Jadeja stood out with an undefeated 61 off 181 deliveries, creating key partnerships with Nitish Kumar Reddy (30 off 91), Jasprit Bumrah (35 off 132) and Mohammed Siraj (23 off 80). Despite their valiant efforts, England held their composure to take the victory. Stokes was named Player of the Match for the Lord’s Test.
With this score, England now leads the series 2-1. The fourth Test will start on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
