Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, has selected his ODI team for 2023. His team consists of six Indian cricket players, two South Africans, and one each from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Additionally, he left out any Australians, the reigning world champions.
Additionally, Chopra picked Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, as the leader of his ODI team. Notably, the Men in Blue advanced to the ODI World Cup finals under his direction thanks to their outstanding performance throughout the competition. On the last night of the tournament, Australia prevailed by six wickets because the Indian side was unable to complete the task at hand.
“I’m opening with two Indians. In 27 games, Rohit Sharma has amassed 1255 runs at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 117, with two hundreds and nine half-centuries. Since he led the Indian team to the World Cup final, he will serve as captain of my squad.
Shubman Gill, his companion, came in second. In 29 matches, he amassed 1584 runs at an average of 63 and a strike rate of 105, with five hundreds and nine half-centuries.
The ODI format is quite popular with both Rohit and Gill, said to Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.
Chopra, meanwhile, selected Virat Kohli as the third selection. The prolific batsman ended as the ODI World Cup’s top run scorer, after an incredible season at the bat. He selected Pakistani goalie Mohammad Rizwan at number five and Daryl Mitchell at number four. Even though Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan wasn’t having a great season, he chose to start him at number six.
Next up was Shakib Al Hasan. To be honest, he didn’t have a great year, but runs and wickets still have worth. Even though he had a relatively unremarkable World Cup, I have maintained him lower on the order.
In 23 games, he has amassed runs at an average of 35 and claimed wickets, according to Chopra. Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen, two South African pacers, were also included in Chopra’s playing eleven. His team was completed by Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Daryl Mitchell, Mohammad Rizwan, Shakib Al Hasan, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are the members of Aakash Chopra’s 2023 ODI team.
