The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved Avesh Khan to play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the 2025 Indian Premier League, which is a huge boost for the franchise. Avesh, who LSG purchased at the super auction last year for INR 9.75 crore, missed their debut match against the Delhi Capitals because he was recuperating from a right knee ailment.
According to a source, Avesh Khan has been given permission by the BCCI medical staff to join the LSG squad.
Avesh’s right knee pain is a result of the amount of labor he did during the just finished domestic season. Since late January, he has not participated in competitive criket.
For his rehabilitation, the right-arm pacer was at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. It is said that on Monday, March 24, the day that LSG lost a thrilling opening match to Delhi Capitals by a single wicket, he underwent one of his last fitness tests.
The bowler is anticipated to be available for selection for LSG’s upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27, though the precise date of Avesh’s return to the club has not yet been determined. The game will be the franchise’s second away game.
LSG’s core group of Indian pace bowlers has been plagued by injuries. when Akash Deep is recovering from a back injury he sustained during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Mayank Yadav recently suffered a toe injury when he was rehabilitating from a lumbar stress injury. Due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage, Mohsin Khan has already been ruled out of the 2025 Indian Premier League. Shardul Thakur, an all-round seam bowler, will take his place.
