Azam Khan was unable to begin his career in the eleventh match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas against the United States of America (USA). Before Nosthush Kenjige returned to the attack in the tenth over of the match, Pakistan’s first-inning team lost a few early wickets, but their partnership between Shadab Khan and Babar Azam stabilised the situation. The spinner beat Azam on the following delivery after dismissing Shadab for 40 runs off 25 balls.
The 25-year-old did not judge the ball correctly as it struck his pads. Azam chose to review the umpire’s decision following a heated appeal with skipper Babar, who was on the other end. Since the umpire’s call in the replay was correct, the DRS favoured the bowling team. The stumper-batter then had to make his way back to the pavilion in search of a golden duck.

When some seated fans shouted out to Azam as he was entering the dressing room, he was not feeling well. The batter gave the supporters a furious look before responding to their comments. The cricket player should have shown his rage on the pitch, not at the spectators, according to Irfan Pathan, who was watching the event from the commentary box.

“After leaving, he was really irate, and it seemed like he was acting very casually. Perhaps there was a comment made to him. He ought to have shown this rage during the game, but instead he was upset with the supporters, as Pathan was heard saying on television.
In the meantime, Babar scored 44 runs off 43 balls, and Shaheen Shah Afridi hit 23 runs off 16 balls towards the end to help Pakistan get 159 runs. Though credit must go to the American bowlers who were on target in Dallas, a better showing from Pakistan was anticipated on a favourable pitch. They would be pleased with their effort, picking wickets at regular intervals to keep the Men in Green in check.
