On Friday, May 19, officers from the excise department detained Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, on suspicion of violating traffic laws. According to Cricket Pakistan, the officers observed that the numbers on his license plate were unusually tiny and did not comply with the government’s standard size regulations. The officers then instructed Babar Azam to replace his vehicle’s license plate.
Later, the officers also verified Babar Azam documentation, including the registration and taxes on his vehicle, among other things.
After the examination was complete, the officers took photos with Babar Azam, whose images went viral across all social media platforms.
Babar Azam returned to Pakistan’s squad for the recent white-ball series against New Zealand at home after a brief absence during which he was unavailable for selection for a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates. Under his capable leadership, the Men in Green defeated the Kiwis in the ODI series by a score of 4-1, with Babar finishing as the series’ fourth-highest run scorer with 276 runs in five matches.
Fakhar Zaman was sensational throughout, amassing 363 runs in five matches and achieving two centuries. His impressive performance will bolster Pakistan’s confidence heading into the ODI World Cup, but the same cannot be said for the middle order.
Mohammed Rizwan performed poorly in the most recent home series, whereas Agha Salman lacks sufficient experience. The team will endeavor to progress in this area prior to the international tournament.
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf were once again the standout bowlers for the Pakistani squad. Shaheen’s improvement with the bat could also be significant, while he has recently established himself as one of the finest bowlers in white-ball cricket.
