The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed their team for the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy on Sunday, January 12. Among the 15 players selected by Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto will serve as captain. Notably, star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did not make the cut, while seasoned veterans Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim kept their spots.
It is significant to remember that Shakib was barred from bowling in any domestic or international cricket matches after failing the test for a suspected bowling action in Chennai,. Although the board permitted the all-rounder to play as a batter, they chose not to use him in the multi-nation competition. The team also did not include Litton Das, a batsman and wicketkeeper.
The all-rounder Soumya Sarkar, Rahim, Mahmudullah, Towhid Hridoy, and skipper Shanto make up the Bangla Tigers’ potent batting lineup. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana will lead the pace attack. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain, on the other hand, are the team’s top spin bowling choices for the major competition.
The team has included young players including Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nasum Ahmed, and Parvez Hossain. Throughout the competition, Mushfiqur’s backup will be 26-year-old wicketkeeper Jaker Ali.
