Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was recently dismissed from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad after directions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to deteriorating political tensions between the two countries.
Bangladesh wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan has opened up on Mustafizur’s reaction to his latest snub.
Nurul, Mustafizur’s captain of Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), praised his teammate. He said it was understandable for Mustafizur to be frustrated, but the left-armer seemed cool and at peace.
“He is relaxed and at ease. At the same time, there may still be some disappointment. He deserves what he has now, and he deserved even more before. But I think he’s doing just fine. To me, it seems he is calm”, said Sohan while speaking in the post-match press conference.
Even after the off-field disappointments, the 30-year-old pacer showed resilience and delivered a match-winning spell on Sunday, as he successfully defended 10 runs in the final over and won the match for Rangpur Riders against Dhaka Capitals.
“For us, Mustafiz is a world-class bowler. He has been proving that for a long time. Everyone has confidence in him. There is nothing more to say about him, everyone is always impressed”, continued Sohan.
KKR allowed to sign replacement player
The Satkhira-born pacer was picked up by KKR in the IPL auction late last year for INR 9.2 crore, making him the most expensive Bangladesh player ever in IPL. Interestingly, he was the only Bangladesh player to be picked in the IPL auction this year.
Mustafizur, who has previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings, has picked up 65 wickets in 60 matches at an average of 28.44.
After this fiasco, the BCCI has confirmed that they will allow KKR to sign a replacement player.
