The team has been announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the second Test match between South Africa and Bangladesh, which is set to begin on October 29, 2024, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The roster has undergone one modification, as Khaled Ahmed has been added in place of Taskin Ahmed.
The BCB’s selector, former opening batsman Hannan Sarkar, maintained that the team management had chosen to prioritise Taskin’s workload.
“Taskin has not been let go. Over the next two months, we have a tonne of international games scheduled. He will be able to recover during the break and begin getting ready for the next series,” Sarkar said, as reported by The Daily Star.
Bangladesh proceeded with Hasan Mahmud, the only pacer in the playing XI, and a trio of spinners, leaving Taskin out of the opening Test. Khalil, who was playing for the Sylhet Division in the National Cricket League, was in the spotlight at the time and claimed four wickets. He was removed from the first Test match, which Bangladesh lost to India by seven wickets, because of his lacklustre performance with the ball in the Kanpur Test.
The Bangladeshi team is eager to improve in the run-up to a packed calendar of international cricket, and they will be travelling to Chattogram on October 26 for the series’ final match. An ODI series against Afghanistan, consisting of three matches, follows the series against the Proteas.

Between the series against the Afghans and their all-format tour of the Caribbean to complete a hectic schedule for this year, they don’t have much time to relax.
