The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) saw significant upheaval when Faruque Ahmed assumed the chair after Nazmul Hassan resigned as president. In addition, two BCB directors were requested to resign by the National Sports Council (NSC). It should be noted that the concerned directors had been nominated for directorship under the NSC quota.
Following the escalating political tensions, Jalal Yunus, the chairman of cricket operations, resigned. BCB director Sajjadul Alam Bobby has since disclosed that Yunus did not want to go down. In addition, Hassan, the former president of BCB, submitted his resignation via email the day before the August 21 board meeting.
“I’m shocked and disappointed beyond belief. The NSC’s actions resembled blatant meddling in the board’s operations. It is completely inappropriate. There was no direct communication from NSC with me. I received a copy of an NSC notice about the appointment of a new councillor via WhatsApp from the BCB CEO. It was forwarded to me at 7:00 PM following the meeting at the Ministry,” Sajjadul stated, as cited by The Daily Star.
Regarding Chandika Hathurusinghe’s contract, I have not yet been informed: Faruque
Following his appointment as BCB President, Faruque’s top objective was firing Head Coach and Chandika Hathurusinghe. The 58-year-old stated that the management is already searching for a qualified applicant since he was determined to replace Chandika. It is important to remember that Chandika’s assignment was set to expire in February 2025.

Over the course of the next two or three days, I have to talk to my colleague to see if we can replace him. Faruque stated, “We need to make a shortlist and see who wants to join us.
