Faruque Ahmed, the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has made a suggestion that Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal would be included in Bangladesh’s team for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the BCB’s selector, also stated that he was unaware of Tamim and Shakib’s fates.
It is important to remember that Shakib Al Hasan was unable to enter the nation due to certain political difficulties. Additionally, he was criticised for his unusual bowling motion. In order to bowl in domestic contests and international cricket, he had to obtain clearance once more.
However, Tamim Iqbal has already started getting ready for the upcoming BPL season,
and the seasoned player has persuasively argued for his spot in the CT squad with his strong performances.
“Any player is unquestionably eligible for selection (for the Champions Trophy) if he does not retire. There is nothing new about the Shakib situation; it is a completely separate subject. Faruque Ahmed was quoted by as stating, “He wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play during the last West Indies tour, and now Shakib will say whether he will play BPL or what is his state, and I cannot say anything because I don’t have any update regarding him.”
“Take a look at what the chief selector said regarding Tamim. There is no rule, and the selection committee will have to speak with the player in question if he hasn’t retired yet and the selectors believe he is needed for the squad,” he continued.
The president also discussed how, following Najmul Hossain Shanto’s term ending in December, they will decide who will govern the country.
“We just finished a series, and since the boys will be playing in the BPL, we have time before the Champions Trophy. We haven’t talked about anything related to this. When the time comes, we’ll talk,” Faruque stated.
