Numerous Indian Premier League (IPL) matches have already taken place in Dubai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering using Dubai as the auction site ahead of the 17th season of the lucrative league.
The richest cricket board in the world is said to have whittled down the auction dates to December 15–19, according to a Cricbuzz article. A few days before the Indian Premier League (IPL) sale, there will be a Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction. December 9 is the tentative date for the WPL auction. Mumbai hosted the WPL last year. Although the location of the 2024 World Premier League has not yet been announced, India is most likely to host the competition.
The teams have not yet received an official notification, but reports indicate that the IPL auction may take place in Dubai. The IPL auction was ultimately conducted in Kochi last year instead of Istanbul, as scheduled by the BCCI. Teams are aware that Dubai is being explored as a possible location for the auction.
Trading for the IPL is open.
Teams are able to switch players at any time while the IPL trading window is open. But as of yet, there have been no reports of player exchanges.
The location and schedule for the second season of the five-team competition have not yet been disclosed to the WPL franchise owners by the BCCI.
The Indian women’s team is scheduled to play overseas till the middle of January, while the WPL is anticipated to start in February at the latest.
The clubs are also awaiting word on whether the WPL 2024 will be played home-and-away like the IPL, or in a single location. The BCCI is busy attempting to make the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup a spectacle to remember, so it has a lot on its plate. The main event’s summit clash is scheduled on November 19 in Ahmedabad.
