Dhruv Jurel is continuing his wicketkeeping duties on Day 2 of India’s third Test against England at London’s renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground, as Rishabh Pant recovers from an injury received on the first day of the match.
Rishabh Pant injured his finger while attempting to collect a delivery along the leg side.
On Thursday, July 10, the 27-year-old stepped off the pitch while Jurel took over as wicketkeeper.
Minutes before the start of play on Day 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the status of Pant’s injury via social media post. The cricket governing body stated that the Indian vice skipper suffered a blow to his left index finger and is still healing. They also stated that the BCCI medical team will monitor his condition and that Jurel will continue keeping wickets on Day 2.
“UPDATE: Rishabh Pant is still healing from the hit on his left index finger. The BCCI medical team continues to monitor his condition. Dhruv Jurel will continue to keep wickets on Day 2,” the BCCI announced on its official ‘X’ (previously Twitter) account.

Jurel was excellent behind the stumps on Day 1. He was equally adept at keeping to the pacers as well as the spinners. The legendary Kumar Sangakkara also praised Jurel for the exceptional catch he took off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling in the final session on the opening day to send a well-set Ollie Pope back to the hut.
The 24-year-old will look to continue his impressive work behind the stumps as India look to dismiss England for as low a total as possible on the second day.
