Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have experienced an early setback as anticipation for the 2023 edition of the tournament builds. Ben Stokes, an English all-rounder who was recruited by CSK in December, has lately revealed that he will not be with the team for the remainder of the competition. Stokes will return home to prepare for an upcoming Test match against Ireland, which will be followed by the Ashes series.
The recently released IPL schedule indicated that the tournament’s final will take place on May 28, just four days before England’s Test match against Ireland. Stokes’ absence may be devastating for CSK, particularly as the campaign nears its conclusion.
Ben Stokes, widely regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world, has been a vital part of England for a number of years, and he will try to make a similar influence with CSK when the competition begins.
“I’ll give myself plenty time to get back and play t=hat game,” said Ben Stokes on his availability for the Ireland Test and Ashes preparation.
Ben Stokes also discussed his decision to forego the remainder of the IPL in order to be ready for England. Stokes was cited by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “Yeah, I’ll play; I’ll give myself enough time to go back and play that [Ireland] game.”
“I’ll likely ask the individuals what they want to do to prepare for the Ashes, since those five games are arguably the most important of the summer, and you have to consider what the players desire. But what if something were to occur in that game [Ireland] that caused us to lose a player for the Ashes?”
“It’s just one of those situations where you have to weigh what each individual wants out of the week versus whether we really need to play that game. Clearly, I am correct in stating that this series is more important than the game against Ireland “Stokes came to a conclusion.
