The Ashes 2023 is scheduled to begin on June 16 at Edgbaston, reigniting the oldest rivalry in international cricket. England and Australia will face off for the first time since 2005. Australia has dominated India over the first two days of the World Test Championship, putting them in excellent form heading into the series.
The English captain, Ben Stokes, has stated that his team will play fearless cricket in the upcoming series despite the Australian challenge.
Stokes acknowledged that the strain of the Ashes is unlike that of any other series, but his team is prepared for an exciting summer. The all-rounder is optimistic about his team’s performance over the past year and anxious to replicate it in the upcoming series. Stokes advised his team to play fearlessly and to stop being frightened of failure.
“This series is unlike any others. This summer will be filled with pressure, hype, and additional commotion, but we are prepared for it all. We’ve had some success over the past year, and the group’s mentality is so robust. PLANETSPORT quoted Ben Stokes as saying, “Everyone is fully committed to what we’re doing.”
“We know how talented we are and that on our best days, we can defeat anyone. I guarantee that we will play without dread. We want to foster an environment in which everyone is unafraid to attempt new things. I am aware that this has not always been the case, despite the fact that we have always had the capacity to do so. Nothing is held back. Communicate yourself. Show us your true abilities. “As captain, I won’t be berating people for trying to play a big shot in press conferences or the media,” he added.
Since 2015, England has won the Ashes for the first time.
Under the supervision of Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, England is notably playing a new style of cricket. They have revolutionised Test cricket with their new aggressive style of cricket, dubbed “Bazball.” Ben Stokes’ team has won 10 of their last 12 Test matches, including a 3-0 thrashing of Pakistan in an away series.
The ‘Three Lions’ have been unsuccessful in regaining the Ashes in the last three series, including the 2019 series. In 2015, under Alastair Cook’s stewardship, they won the Ashes by a score of 3-2. The forthcoming series between the two teams is anticipated to be evenly matched.
