Veteran Pakistani cricketer Waqar Younis believes Jasprit Bumrah is the greatest in the industry, according to former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra. In the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Jasprit Bumrah made an impression by taking 14 wickets in three games.
According to Chopra, Younis acknowledged that Jasprit Bumrah is the finest when he likened him to Pakistani great Wasim Akram and asked if the Indian pacer was like him.
“We were in a vehicle. I had Waqar Younis with me. I said to him, “Wasim Akram is respected throughout the cricket world for his control and variety in bowling.” He was the best. Isn’t Bumrah similar to Wasim Akram, who is right-handed? “No, he is superior to all of us,” he said. At his age, we didn’t think this way. He thinks more clearly and is more skilled. On his YouTube channel, Chopra declared, “He is the best the world has ever seen.”
Chopra also mentioned that Bumrah’s handling of his workload has drawn criticism. To lower the chance of getting hurt, the right-arm pacer purposefully only participated in three games.
It was asserted that Jasprit Bumrah was the best captain India could have. He was vice-captain under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, had captained in Perth and won the match, so he should be the captain, Chopra remarked in response to the question of why bowlers cannot become captains.
“This is how it began and is continuing: trolling that he doesn’t accept full responsibility when he plays and that the team loses when he does, which means that our fans have turned into gumrah (gone astray) because of Boom Boom Bumrah. I apologise and I’m very, really shocked,” he continued.
Jasprit Bumrah, according to the cricketer-turned-commentator, is a generational talent who is far superior to the others.
“He is currently the world’s best bowler in all formats. Allow Bumrah to play if he only participates in three games. I’ll stop at nothing to keep Bumrah playing in crucial games if workload management says I can do so without losing my cool,” Chopra said.
