Bevon Jacobs, a hard-hitting middle order batsman for the Auckland Aces, has received his first international call-up from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for the forthcoming three-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka, which starts on December 28.
After a stellar domestic season and a standout showing for Canterbury Kings in the Super Smash T20 event, where he amassed 134 runs in six innings with a strike rate of 188.73, Jacobs was selected. In the most recent IPL 2025 auction, he also secured a contract with the Mumbai Indians (MI). He went to Canterbury after beginning his career with Auckland, where he made his List A and T20 debuts.
“Bevon and his family are undoubtedly going through an exciting moment. We’re excited to introduce him to international cricket since he’s a talented and promising player. According to ESPNcricinfo, NZC selector Sam Wells stated, “He’s obviously got a lot of power with the bat, but he’s also shown in the longer formats that he has a decent technique and temperament.”
Along with Tim Robinson, Mitch Hay, and Zac Foulkes, Bevon Jacobs is a member of a youthful New Zealand team. After making their international debuts earlier this year, this series will be their first chance to showcase their skills domestically.
In limited forms, Santner assumes leadership as the full-time captain of New Zealand.
Notably, all-rounder Mitchell Santner will lead the team for the first time as New Zealand’s permanent white-ball leader under the direction of acting head coach Luke Ronchi. Additionally, players like Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, and Rachin Ravindra will be making their comebacks. The Kiwis’ final ODI bilateral series before to the Champions Trophy is this one.
