Raghvi Bist’s dismissal in Match 12 of the current Women’s Premier League match between Gujarat Giants Women and Royal Challengers Bengaluru was anything but typical. She was dismissed by a direct hit at the bowler’s end and went back to the pavilion.
But what really made the entire event special was the instant before Bharti Fulmali’s throw.
Ashleigh Gardner, the captain of Gujarat, was supposed to gobble up a misplaced shot to cover. But, perhaps because of the sky or lighting, the Australian all-rounder made a feast of it. After the catch was dropped, Fulmali moved quickly from mid-off to make a spectacular throw to the stumps.

Bist had just started out with a maximum from Meghna Singh’s last delivery. She was RCB-W’s fourth wicket to fall after departing for a 22-run knock off 19 balls. It was a very poor showing by the hosts, who were ultimately limited to 125/7 at the end of 20 overs.
Kanika Ahuja finished with 33 runs, making her Bengaluru’s highest scorer. GJ-W’s bowling was a complete masterclass; they were clinical with their line and length all night long. Tanuja Kanwar’s four-over quota saw her give up just 16 runs in the end.
Each of Deandra Dottin and Kanwar took a few wickets. Kashvee Gautam and Ashleigh Gardner both ended up getting one, giving up 17 and 22 runs in their four overs. RCB-W would be eager to improve in the second innings in order to avoid losing for the third time in a row.
