Harsha Bhogle has reacted to the Virat Kohli tribute that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporters are organising on Saturday, May 17, when they play the Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Prior to the five-match Test tour to England, Kohli declared on May 12 that he will be retiring from Test cricket, capping an incredible career in the game’s longest format.
RCB supporters have asked everyone attending Saturday’s game at Chinnaswamy to wear white jerseys or t-shirts as a way to honour Kohli and his contributions to the Indian red-ball cricket squad.
“at remembrance of Virat Kohli, could you help spread the word and encourage supporters to wear Test whites at the stadium for the next RCB match?
He helped many of us fall in love with Test cricket, and even though I will never be able to watch him play live in whites, I still want him to know how much his favourite format was adored. This action might be a potent means of demonstrating that his legacy endures in the hearts of his supporters and transcends statistics.
Help us make it a reality by giving it some thought. For many of us, it would be extremely meaningful. In fact, I created a template. We can also generate money, in my opinion, to distribute the jerseys outside of Chinnaswamy. That’s our best opportunity. The RCB supporters’ statement said, “Even if jerseys aren’t available, plain white t-shirts should do.”

Bhogle wondered if RCB fans would be able to pull off such a tribute. The veteran commentator said that it will be a sight for the ages.
“Hey @RCBTweets fans, are you planning to turn up in white for the game on the 17th? Remember seeing a post suggesting that. It will be incredible and a sight for the ages if true and if you can pull it off,” said Bhogle on X.
Bhogle, however, pointed out that the only danger of wearing whites is that it could make the spotting of white balls difficult for the players.
“Only danger is that picking the ball in a white backdrop will become very difficult,” said the 63-year-old commentator.

RCB will become the first team to reach the playoffs if they beat the defending champions in front of their home fans on Saturday. They are currently stationed at No. 2 on the points table behind Gujarat Titans.
