The Indian Premier League (IPL)’s second-highest wicket-taker in history is right-arm bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is presently playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2025. Following his three-wicket haul against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the seasoned spinner now has 193 wickets in the league.
After 11 years with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the 35-year-old was signed by RCB prior to the 2025 season. The right-arm bowler participated in one Champions League T20 match in 2011 while playing for the RCB team. The cricketer, who was born in Meerut, has participated in nine games and taken 12 wickets in the current 2025 IPL season. Additionally, he has already won the Purple Cap twice while playing for the Orange Army, once in 2016 with 23 wickets and again the following year in 2017 with 26 wickets.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar crossed former Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, who has 192 wickets to his name.
During his four-over session in the match against DC, the right-handed bowler gave up 33 runs and removed KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs, and Ashutosh Sharma. To put it mildly, he has bowled in 185 innings over his IPL career while maintaining an economy rate of 7.60.
