The Big Bash League (BBL) returns for its fifteenth season in 2025-26, with the premier event due to begin on Sunday, December 14 to kick off the proceedings. Eight teams will compete in a heated cricketing struggle to determine Australia’s top T20 squad, just as they have for the previous fourteen seasons. A total of 44 matches will be played over the course of a month during an exciting cricketing season.
Last year, the Hobart Hurricanes broke a 14-year drought by winning their first title in the prestigious competition. However, the Perth Scorchers have won the most BBL titles in history, with five. Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers have each won once, while the Melbourne Stars are the only team that has yet to claim the coveted silverware.
To kick off the 2025-26 season, the Perth Scorchers will welcome the Sydney Sixers in the first league stage contest on Sunday at the Perth Stadium. The top four clubs on the points table after 40 league stage games will advance to the elimination round, with the final on January 25. As a result, the teams will want to go all out and delight the fans with a blitzkrieg on the pitch.
