The high-octane Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 season will begin on Sunday, December 14, with 44 matches scheduled throughout the competition. The final will be contested on January 26. Eight teams will fight for the prized title, with the Perth Scorchers standing out as the most successful franchise, having won the trophy five times in the past.

The Melbourne Stars are still the only team in BBL history that has not won the competition. The season will once again begin at Optus Stadium, with the Perth Scorchers hosting the Sydney Sixers in the latest chapter of their bitter rivalry. The highly anticipated duel between the competition’s two most successful teams will begin at 4:15 PM local time (1:45 PM IST).

Several well-known international players will compete over the tournament’s first few days. Pakistan great Babar Azam will play for the Sydney Sixers in the season opener, while his compatriots Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi will face off when the Melbourne Renegades visit the Brisbane Heat in Geelong. The Hobart Hurricanes will begin their title defence at home on Tuesday night, hosting the Sydney Thunder at Ninja Stadium.
