Trent Boult, who is now in the IPL 2024 as a player for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), is preparing for a busy summer that will include the ICC T20 World Cup and Major League Cricket later in the year.
The left-arm seamer, who was freed from his primary contract in New Zealand, has turned to a freelancing career. In addition to pursuing his love for the game, he is taking advantage of the chance to spend more time with his family.
In the current IPL season, Boult has had a respectable showing. With seven wickets in seven games, he has been instrumental in helping RR take the lead with 12 points.
Boult, who is renowned for his ability to force movement off the pitch, feels that, particularly in the era of compact grounds and flat pitches, the recently implemented two-bouncer rule gives bowlers an extra tool to use while moving in at the batter.
It’s a smart move to have two bounces in one over. The property is not very large. The fact that the balls aren’t moving around as much as they have in the past allows the bowlers one more trick in their sleeve to attempt to be ever so slightly more unexpected. In a recent interview with Sportstar, Boult stated, “I’m sure it will have a good effect throughout the tournament.”
It has greatly changed things. Trent Boult
Speaking about it, he recognized that the new regulation does make a significant difference. The Impact Player rule was also implemented in the lucrative league from the previous season.
It has, in my opinion, significantly changed. Because of this, teams can now outfit hitters who can bat as low as No. 10. The scores reflect that. The border counts, in my opinion, are higher than they have ever been, and a few scores above 250 have already been observed,” he continued.
“I think it’s skewed massively because there’s the data that has been there over years with standard 11 players, and now you can slightly manipulate that with the balance of the sides,” he said.
The team atop the standings is getting ready to play the Mumbai Indians in their next game on April 22 at home in Jaipur.
