Bowling coach Jhulan Goswami has been hired by the Mumbai franchise

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) team from Mumbai has recruited the illustrious Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami to serve as its bowling coach and mentor for the upcoming season.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the information was revealed by Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India’s cricket team. Sourav Ganguly recently rejoined the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise as its team director after completing his term as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which ran from 2019 until October 2022.

Sourav Ganguly had revealed that Capitals had been keen on bringing in Goswami, but she is heading to Mumbai. The legendary fast bowler, who played international cricket for 40 years before retiring last year, is now 40 years old.

Jhulan Goswami, who is now 40 years old, hung up his cleats in the international cricket scene last year. Ganguly stated that the Capitals had expressed interest in signing Goswami as well.

Sourav Ganguly told the media on Tuesday at Eden Gardens that Jhulan Goswami had moved to Mumbai, according to a statement from ESPNCricinfo. “We had offered her a position, but she has decided to take one in Mumbai,” Ganguly continued.

Jhulan Goswami has taken a total of 355 wickets in international competition, making her the player with the most wickets in the history of women’s cricket.

It is important to note that the first player auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will most likely take place on February 11 or 13, and the BCCI will make a final decision this week on whether it will take place in New Delhi or Mumbai.

The BCCI had originally intended to hold the auction on February 6 in Mumbai. This would have given the five newly established franchises a little under a month to prepare for the inaugural season of the WPL, which is expected to run from March 4 to 24 according to ESPN cricinfo. However, the BCCI ultimately decided to move the auction to another date.

The announcement of the publication of the Request for Proposal for Title Sponsorship Rights for Women’s Premier League Seasons 2023-2027 was made on January 28 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In a release, the governing body of the sport in the country said, “The BCCI invites bids from renowned businesses for purchasing the title sponsorship rights for Women’s Premier League Seasons 2023-2027.” These seasons would take place between 2023 and 2027.

The in-depth terms and conditions that govern the tender process, including the qualifications for eligibility, the method for submitting bids, the rights and obligations of the title sponsor, etc.

are included in the “Request for Proposal” (RFP) document, which can be obtained after making a non-refundable payment of INR 1,000,000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh Only), in addition to any relevant Goods and Services Tax.

The steps that need to be taken to acquire the RFP papers are detailed in the appendix that is attached to this notice (Annexure A). The RFP will be up for sale until February 9, 2023, if anyone is interested in purchasing it.

Those who are interested should send an email to rfp@bcci.tv with the specifics of the money they have made for the purchase of the RFP in accordance with the protocol that is outlined in Annexure A.

It has been made clear that the documents related to the RFP will only be distributed after the confirmation that the non-refundable RFP cost has been paid.

To participate in the bidding process, interested parties are required to acquire the request for proposals (RFP). However, in order to be qualified to bid, one must first satisfy the requirements for eligibility that are outlined in the RFP and also be subject to the additional terms and conditions that are outlined in the RFP. It has been made clear that merely obtaining the RFP does not qualify a person to submit a bid for the opportunity.

The BCCI retains the authority to terminate or alter the bidding process at any moment and in any way, and does not need to provide a rationale for doing so.

The BCCI made the announcement on January 25 regarding the successful bidders for the Women’s Premier League.

The total bid that the BCCI got for the Women’s Indian Premier League was Rs 4669.99 crore, which was higher than the bid for the Men’s IPL in 2008.

Following the auction that was held in advance of the tournament’s debut season, which will take place in March of this year, the Adani Group, Capri Global, and the owners of the men’s IPL teams Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore won bids to purchase the five women’s IPL teams. The debut season of the tournament will take place in March.

The cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow will each serve as the teams’ respective home bases during the tournament. There are no women’s IPL teams representing Chennai or Kolkata this year.
