In response to recent rumors that his contract was canceled in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to suspicions of match-fixing, Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik released a statement. The 41-year-old refuted all of the rumors that were going around in his statement, revealing that he had to leave Bangladesh halfway through the competition due to a previously scheduled media engagement in Dubai.
Malik added that he spoke with Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Fortune Barishal, the team he was playing for, and the two of them worked out a plan of action together. He also wished the team luck in their next games and stated that he would be on hand should the team require his assistance.
“I want to clarify and refute the current rumors that have been going around regarding my role with Fortune Barishal. After a lengthy conversation with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, we jointly discussed the next course of action. I had to depart Bangladesh due to a prior commitment to a media appearance in Dubai. My best wishes go out to Fortune Barishal for their next matches; if they require assistance, I am at their disposal. I will always enjoy playing the game, as I have always done,” Malik posted on his X account.
“I want to stress how important it is to proceed with caution when it comes to rumors, particularly those that have been going about lately. I want it to be known that I vehemently deny these unfounded rumors. Everyone should check information before accepting it and disseminating it.
