The top cricket regulatory body, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), has been struggling with the fitness concerns of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah despite the team’s impressive results in this home series.
Interestingly, the great pacer’s back problems recently prevented him from playing for India in the three-match series. But according to recent reports, Bumrah was set to begin his recuperation at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA). For those who don’t know, the final team will be announced by February 12.
Because of this, both fans and experts are already wondering if the T20 World Cup player of the tournament and the ICC cricketer of the year will be healthy enough to compete in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Notably, the main event is only nine days away, with its start date set for February 19.

Similarly, Bumrah will shortly begin his rehabilitation, which would include some light bowling, according to a source close to the Indian board. Furthermore, he stated that if there was even a one percent chance that the fiery pacer would be fit enough to join India’s Champions Trophy side, the board would be happy to wait.
“The BCCI will probably wait even if there is a 1% probability. They waited nearly two weeks before they were able to replace Hardik Pandya with Prasidh Krishna. They didn’t consider finding a successor, not even when Shubman Gill was ill with dengue. Indeed, those two occurrences took place throughout the campaign, but Bumrah’s approach might not have been any different. The Times of India cited a source who stated, “This is just the deadline to submit the squad and they could approach the Event Technical Committee later to seek a replacement if he fails to regain fitness.”
