Ravindra Jadeja is one of the players in the Indian Premier League who can be counted on the most (IPL). Because he is good at everything, his team has won many games thanks to him. He is an important part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team right now, and he won a title with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) when the tournament was just starting out.
Ravindra Jadeja had trouble getting runs and wickets when he played 14 games for the first IPL champions. His first season was a disappointment because he only scored 135 runs and didn’t get any wickets. But the defending champions didn’t lose faith in the young all-rounder, and in the next season, which was played in South Africa, he played in 13 games. In a bad season for his team, young Jadeja scored 295 runs and took six wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja played for RR for the first two years of the league, but he didn’t play in the 2010 season because he was banned for a year for breaking players’ rules before the main event. At the IPL mega-auctions in 2011, the Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK), which had just been formed, paid INR 4.37 crore for him. Under the legendary Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene, he put on some great all-around performances and won games with his incredible talent.
But his time with the Tuskers came to an end after the 2011 season, when the team was kicked out of the league for breaking the rules. In 2012, he went under the hammer again to find a buyer. This time, he did well, as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought him for INR 9.72 crore after seeing how good he was. Under the direction of MS Dhoni, he seemed sure of himself and did a good job for Super Kings. The Southpaw had 191 runs and 12 wickets in his first season with CSK.
In 2013, he hit some hard knocks that helped his team win the league round and finish on top of the table. In the 16th game of the tournament, he scored 38 runs in 20 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to help his team win the tournament. After Jadeja’s great hit, Dhoni took to Twitter to call him “Sir,” which is a name that a lot of people know.
After two great seasons for CSK, where he was good at everything, he became a star player in the league. In 2014, the veteran took 19 wickets for his team in 16 IPL games, making him the fourth-highest wicket-taker of all time. CSK won a lot of games and made it to the knockout stage because of how well he bowled.
In 2015, the speedy all-rounder only took 11 wickets and scored 132 runs in 17 games, helping CSK finish second in the tournament. CSK got a two-year ban for spot-fixing and betting after the year 2015. Since his team couldn’t play, Gujarat Lions (GL) picked him up for the 2016 and 2017 league seasons.
Ravindra Jadeja role in helping CSK pull off one of the biggest comebacks of the tournament
Ravindra Jadeja played for the Gujarat-based franchise for a few seasons. In 27 games, he scored 349 runs and took 13 wickets. CSK came back to the league in 2018 and won the trophy for the third time. In 16 games, Jadeja took 11 wickets, which helped his team win the title.
After winning their third title in 2018, CSK came into the 2019 tournament hoping to keep it. To complete that hard task, the team knew that their best players would have to play well. Jadeja didn’t let anyone down. He did his job well and got 15 wickets in 16 matches, with an economy of 6.35.
For the first time, the MS Dhoni-led team did not advance to the knockout stages in 2020. The seasoned veteran ended the season with only six wickets. But the veteran was sure of himself with the bat, scoring 232 runs in 14 games at a jaw-dropping 171.85 strike rate.
In 2021, CSK again showed what they were made of in the league and won their fourth trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who is a very strong person. In the 19th game of the competition, against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he hit a fantastic fifty, which helped his team beat the other team by 69 runs. Fans of CSK will always remember the game because the left-handed batter scored 37 runs in Harshal Patel’s last over. By doing this, he tied Chris Gayle’s record of 37 runs in one over, which Gayle had done against Prasanth Paremeswaran in 2011.
The management gave Jadeja the CSK captaincy two days before the start of the 15th IPL season. But the change didn’t go well because CSK did so poorly in that edition. His leadership appeared to have harmed Ravindra Jadeja performance as well. The veteran led his team in eight of the tournament’s games, but he could only get two wickets for his team. Midway through the tournament, Jadeja gave the team back to Dhoni because he was having trouble dealing with the stress.
