His teammate and Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey has stated his faith that Starc will be included in the Test XI in the New Year despite the rumours.
One of the pillars of the Australian Test team for a long time has been Mitchell Starc. No matter what the circumstances, he has always given it his all. Although Starc’s record in the format may not be as impressive as it is in the ODI format, taking 373 wickets in 93 Test matches is still a significant accomplishment.
Presently competing in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy is the strong Australian fast. But during the just finished fourth Test match against India, he was often observed clutching and stretching his back, raising concerns about whether he would play in the series’ fifth and final Test in Sydney starting on January 3.
“He will be all right. He will succeed. Starcy has been one of the most resilient cricket players I’ve ever played with, and we’ve been playing together for a while.

After praising Starc’s performance in the second innings of the previous Test, where he finished with numbers of 16-8-25-1, Carey acknowledged that he had gradually improved.
“I thought he bowled some of his finest in this series during the first spell [in the second innings] without the reward. He has long been a top-notch player. He now has the chance to support this side throughout a Test match. He’ll compete, and I believe his bowling has improved over the course of the series,” Carey
It would be great if we could get the trophy: Take care of your
The southpaw discussed the possibility of recovering the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and securing their place in the World Test Championship final of the current cycle.
“It would be a reward for playing cricket consistently for 24 months.” We cannot look too far ahead, but this is a very skilled and seasoned squad that includes Australian great who never cease to amaze us with their skill. We are aware that this is a very good Indian team that has proven they are capable of recovering. Thus, it’s head-down for this team, another chance to win a Test match, and it would be great if they could win the trophy,” he continued.
India has emerged victorious in the last two Test series played in Australia. Australia will regain the title and have a foot in the WTC final with a simple draw in the fifth and final Test of the series.
