On Sunday, March 9, India defeated New Zealand in a historic Champions Trophy 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With his 76 from 83 deliveries, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was decisive in the run chase, helping his team surpass the Kiwis’ 252-run mark. Leading from the front, Rohit won Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, which included three maximums and seven fours.
In the history of the Champions Trophy finals, which began in 1998, Rohit was the most recent player to win Player of the Match. With his counterattacking, all-around efforts in the finals against England in the 2013 tournament, when India won for the first time, he also became the second Indian player to win the honour, following Ravindra Jadeja.
