On Monday, April 7, the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced off at Mumbai’s storied Wankhede Stadium. Notably, both teams were eager to resume their winning ways after suffering difficult defeats.
But aside from the cricket action, the stadium DJ’s attempts to raise support for star pacer Jasprit Bumrah during his comeback match were one noteworthy highlight.
Fans, however, disregarded the plea and continued to yell the name of star batsman Virat Kohli, who was standing near the striker’s end. In anticipation of a repeat “Bumrah!” from the crowd, the DJ attempted to start the traditional “Boom Boom” chant as Bumrah ran in to bowl the fourth ball of his second over. However, cries of “Kohli, Kohli” erupted across the stadium, overriding the DJ’s cue.
Dear Wankhede DJ, you can try but you can’t stop the chants…

As the batting master anchored the innings with a hammering 67 off 42 balls, he appeared to be in excellent form. In the fourth over, they played each other for the first time in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The Delhi-born player smashed the over’s second ball over the deep mid-wicket zone for a massive six. The pacer then tried to run out Kohli, who was at the non-striker’s end, and the two were shown laughingly pushing shoulders.
In the meantime, RCB gracefully demonstrated their hitting power. After Phil Salt was dismissed early, Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal put up a stand of 91 runs. Following a sluggish start, Rajat Patidar surged to a fifty off 25 balls, while Jitesh Sharma finished with a 40* off 19 balls. At Wankhede, RCB scored 221/5, the third-highest score ever against MI, even though MI rallied.
