Five capped players—Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Varma—were kept by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in advance of the IPL 2025 mega auction. On Sunday, November 24, the first day of the auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, they had a 45 crore purse.

Only four players were signed by the previous five-time winners on the opening day of the IPL 2025 auction. Trent Boult, a renowned seamer from New Zealand, was brought back for an incredible INR 12.50 crore, but they had to wait almost five hours before they could celebrate a new acquisition. For INR 5.25 crore, the Mumbai Indians later re-signed Naman Dhir, an explosive batsman for Punjab.

Mumbai paid INR 50 lakh to rehire veteran leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who won the IPL with the team in 2017, but they had to let go of talented young players like Nehal Wadhera and Akash Madhwal. Robin Minz, a gifted batsman and wicketkeeper from Jharkhand known as “The Chris Gayle of Jharkhand,” was their last acquisition on the first day, costing INR 65 lakh.

On Day 2, MI began their activities by paying INR 1 crore to recruit Ryan Rickelton, a flashy South African batsman and wicketkeeper. Mumbai also paid INR 9.25 crore and INR 4.80 crore to hire mystery spinner Allah Ghazanfar and seasoned pacer Deepak Chahar. Will Jacks, a devastating batter for England, was also acquired by the Hardik-led team for INR 5.25 crore.
