On Sunday, April 27, the Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a commanding 54-run margin in Match 45 of the current Indian Premier League (IPL2025) at the Wankhede Stadium. With their fifth straight win of the season against LSG, MI moved up to second position in the standings (before the Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru match ended in Match 46 of the IPL 2025).
Why his IPL debut was a “super special day” for him was explained by Corbin Bosch. He also talked about his experience getting to bat and how, after reaching the crease in the first innings, he progressively got over his initial nervousness.
“I was ecstatic to receive the news first thing in the morning. I am having a really special day. I wished my younger brother, Eathan Bosch, a happy birthday because it’s his birthday. What a wonderful day to make my debut. I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride thus far, and this Mumbai Indians team has been just exceptional. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Corbin revealed, “My nerves were through the roof the entire time, but they settled down once I made contact with the ball.”

The South African all-rounder also mentioned how MI’s longstanding Education and Sports for All program improved the venue’s ambience. The South African batsman’s 20 from 10 in the first innings was noteworthy. In terms of bowling, during his four-over period, he bowled 14 dot balls in total. Corbin also took a wicket to meet his quota. It was revealed earlier in the day that he was one of the two additions to MI’s starting lineup.
“Back in South Africa, I worked really hard behind the scenes to improve my bowling. I’m willing to help the team as much as I can and am happy to bat wherever the team wants me. The audience has been wonderful, and we are happy that we were able to give them a little extra special treatment today. “What a unique move on the part of the Mumbai Indians team,” Corbin said.
