CP Rizwan The development of Rizwan as a cricket player is evidence of his unwavering resolve. He has persevered in his commitment to the game and his pursuit of achievement despite setbacks. CP Rizwan had already been stripped of both the UAE captaincy and his spot on the national squad in 2023. Many believed that this would be the last match for him to play cricket. But Rizwan had other ideas.
CP Rizwan play reflected the troubles of the team after the coaching change that left the UAE cricket team in chaos. The pivotal World Cup League 2 series in Dubai is when he ultimately lost his status as captain. He initially made the team for a tour to Nepal, but he was later cut from the starting XI.
CP Rizwan dedication to the game persisted in the face of these defeats.
To play in the Minor League Cricket in America, he set off on a quest. His newborn son, Hud, was hospitalised, so he had to return to the UAE to be with his family just as his team, the East Bay Blazers, was making waves in the league.
After his son’s condition improved, Rizwan rescheduled his trip back to the US, where the Blazers would be playing in the playoffs. Before boarding his aircraft, he made a point of stressing the value of family.
Rizwan’s cricket schedule is still full despite not playing for the national side. After playing in the Minor League Cricket, he will compete in the ILT20 development competition in Dubai in an effort to attract franchises. For both the national team and the ILT20, Rizwan is committed to making a strong comeback.
I want to do very well in that tournament and, Inshallah, make a comeback for the national team and also [get selected] for the ILT20. I’m playing and training hard, doing fitness and skill training whenever I can, Rizwan said as quoted by The National News. “I’m looking forward to that as it is one of the key platforms for us to put our case forward again,” Rizwan said.
Rizwan isn’t deterred despite the UAE cricket team’s emphasis on youthful players. He takes his cues from the legendary cricketer Imran Khan, who at the age of 38 captained Pakistan to a World Cup victory. If one’s performance and fitness are up to standard, Rizwan firmly thinks that age is no obstacle.
“I just want to do the best I can with the things I can control so I can make my case again. I am eager to return to UAE cricket service. I’ve always had lofty ambitions, therefore I’m going to do my hardest to achieve that. There will be challenges and barriers as you set larger goals, but they are all a necessary part of the process. But I still want to be among the best players in the UAE. The challenge that lies ahead excites me much. Better times are undoubtedly coming, said Rizwan.
