In the quarterfinal of the Men’s Cricket competition at the Asian Games 2023 on Tuesday morning, Team India faced off against Nepal. Despite being the favorites, the Men in Blue found it difficult to defeat Nepal with ease as the latter battled valiantly till the very end and put on an outstanding performance.
India defeated Nepal at the Asian Games 2023 by 23 runs after amassing a massive total of 202 runs in 20 overs in the quarterfinal of the Men’s Cricket competition. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batswoman for India, struck a 48-ball 100, and Rinku Singh’s spectacular death over performance (37 off 15) enabled them to reach their 203 run target.
Although they fought all the way to the end, Nepal came up 23 runs shy of defeating India.
With his 15-ball, 32-run inning, Dipendra Singh Airee led Nepal in scoring, followed by Sundeep Jora (29 off 12) and Kushal Malla (29 off 22).
The most productive bowlers for Team India were Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan, who both took three wickets. Avesh Lhan also got rid of three players but went for 32 runs, while Bishnoi concluded his four-over performance with three wickets and only 24 runs conceded.
With this triumph, Team India advanced to the semi-final round of the Men’s Cricket competition at the 2023 Hangzhou Games. In contrast, Pakistan will play Hong Kong, Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan, and Bangladesh will play Malaysia in the other quarterfinal games.
