IPL 2025 Match 17 will see the undefeated Delhi Capitals travel to Chennai to play the faltering Chennai Super Kings. This match will take place throughout the day on a doubleheader day.
Although CSK won their season opener, they have already dropped their last two games. They lost to RR in their most recent match in Guwahati. The remainder of RR’s batting stalled, but Nitish Rana was unstoppable in the powerplay. RR’s 182 didn’t seem like a very dangerous total, but Wanindu Hasaranga started a middle order collapse and Jofra Archer bowled three tight overs during the powerplay. Although Ruturaj Gaikwad persevered despite the harm, RR’s fate was essentially decided by his discharge. Despite the optimism generated by MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, RR won by six runs.
DC found it easier to defeat SRH. Kuldeep Yadav completed the task in the middle overs, while Mitchell Starc destroyed the Orange Army during the powerplay. Aniket Verma managed to improbably lead the score through the collapse with his best six-hitting performance, but Starc came back at the last second to finish his fifer. The chase was considerably easier for DC because of Faf du Plessis’ quick fifty.

The surface as always will be expected to be slow and aiding spinners. But that doesn’t mean it is immune from high total every once in a while.

Player battles to watch out for in Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals, Match 17:
1. Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Axar Patel
The battle between the two skippers will be one of the more exciting ones to look forward to in this contest. On a surface expected to aid spin, Gaikwad will have to take up the mantle of countering DC’s skipper as the only in-form CSK batter in the tournament. In the past, Gaikwad has made 58 runs in 40 balls off Axar at a strike rate of 145 and has been dismissed just once.
2. Faf du Plessis vs R Ashwin
The two had spent as many as five seasons as teammates at CSK in the first half of the previous decade, but in the 10 years since they both left the “Yellove”, the two have had a long drawn out battle in the IPL. The former South African skipper has managed just 72 runs in 68 balls against Ashwin at a strike rate of 105.89, but has been dismissed just once.
