In an exciting run chase, Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by 4 wickets in Match 49 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. As the first team eliminated this season, CSK has now officially been eliminated from the tournament as a result of this defeat.
CSK scored 190 runs in 19.2 overs after being called in to bat. Sam Curran‘s brilliant 88 from 47 balls stabilised the innings despite early setbacks. Despite Dewald Brevis’s 32, the rest of the batting order fell apart. For CSK, this loss is a record low. The team is missing the playoffs for the second straight season after losing five straight home games in Chepauk for the first time in IPL history. CSK is now at the bottom of the points table with only two victories in ten games.
