In the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), two teams that have been underperforming despite all odds now square off in the hopes of avoiding elimination. At Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, the ninth-place Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the tenth-place Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will square off in IPL 2025 match No. 43.
In the week between the tournaments, SRH and CSK were scheduled to play a short tri-series against MI. The most recent games played by these two clubs were against MI, and they both lost. It’s interesting to note that both games ended pretty much the same.
Ayush Mhatre, 17, had to infuse some vigour into the innings after CSK’s sluggish start in Mumbai. Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah bowled in a tight manner, but CSK had something to defend thanks to fifties from Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja. But Rohit Sharma’s seeming comeback was enough to overwhelm them. Even though Ryan Rickelton had a rough start, MI won by nine wickets thanks to unbeaten fifties from Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav at high strike rates.
Even more tumultuous was SRH’s defeat against MI in Hyderabad. In the powerplay, Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar each claimed two wickets, and it appeared that SRH would be dismissed for a record-low total. Despite Boult taking more wickets at the end, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar pulled off a comeback to offer Hyderabad something to bowl at.
With his second consecutive fifty of the season, Rohit Sharma once again dominated the bowling assault as though he had regained his form and made the outcome a formality. After an easy pursuit, Suryakumar Yadav added the final touches. Considering that they have lost all three of their previous games in Chepauk, CSK will need to find some solutions fast.

Player battles to watch out for in CSK vs SRH, Match 43:
1. MS Dhoni vs Mohammed Shami
Chennai Super Kings, under the interim leadership of MS Dhoni, haven’t won much this year, but he is pretty much the only thing going right for CSK. He also has a decent record against pacer Mohammed Shami. So far, Dhoni has scored 37 runs in 21 balls at a strike rate of 176.19, while being dismissed once.
2. Abhishek Sharma vs Ravindra Jadeja
Star all rounder Ravindra Jadeja is one of the very few bowlers who has managed to keep Abhishek Sharma mostly quiet in the IPL. Just 35 runs in 27 balls at a strike rate of 129.62, while being dismissed once.
