Thus far, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has proven to be an engaging competition for spectators, as they have witnessed some incredible cricketing action take place. But a number of fans have also voiced their dissatisfaction with the cricket extravaganza’s ticket purchasing process, claiming that they were forced to wait hours in a virtual line only to discover that tickets were sold out at the last minute. An FIR has been filed against BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), BookMyShow, and CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) by a fan ahead of India’s eighth match against South Africa on Sunday, November 5 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The public has been unable to purchase tickets for the historic match.
The complainant claims in the lawsuit that the BCCI, CAB, and BookMyShow withheld a significant quantity of tickets that were initially intended to be made available to the general public in order to sell them to black marketers for profit. With prompt action, the Kolkata Police sent notices to BookMyShow and CAB requesting that their representatives appear on Thursday, November 02, in order to support the inquiry.

BookMyShow and BCCI have not yet released statements on the issue.
To date, though, neither Book My Show nor the BCCI have commented on the purported issue. Notably, during the current tournament, a number of examples have surfaced in which supporters have claimed that World Cup tickets are being sold on illicit markets at outrageous prices. Dedicated cricket enthusiasts who are doing everything in their power to attend the Indian cricket carnival have also encountered multiple instances of fake tickets being peddled in public.
In order to make their World Cup viewing experience unforgettable, supporters would prefer greater openness from BCCI and BookMyShow in their ticket-selling process, especially with 16 games remaining in the tournament and the crucial semifinals and final quickly approaching.
