India defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets on Wednesday, October 11, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, carrying on their winning streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma, India’s captain, shone with the bat as he led his team to a record-breaking 273 run total in just 35 overs.

Resuming the game, Afghanistan’s captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi, chose to bat first after winning the toss. His openers, though, were unable to support his choice as they were left floundering at 63/3 after 13.1 overs. With his team in difficulties, captain Shahidi (80 off 88) and Azmatullah Omarzai (62 off 69) formed a massive 121-run partnership off 127 balls for the fourth wicket.
Afghanistan was able to reach their total of 272/8 in the stipulated 50 overs because to their strong partnership and some help from the lower order. With the ball, India was led by Jasprit Bumrah, who finished with 4/49 in ten overs, and Hardik Pandya, who finished with 2/43 in seven overs.
