India defeated New Zealand by four wickets on Sunday, October 22 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, continuing their winning streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Daryl Mitchell (130 off 127) led New Zealand to a score of 273 in their allotted 50 overs after being given the opportunity to bat first. Virat Kohli 95 (104) in the response helped India win their sixth straight match in the 2017 World Cup. India then chased down the mark in 48 overs. While critics from all over the world praised Kohli’s performance, his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma gave the chase master extra props.
Anushka posted clips of Kohli’s innings on her Instagram story along with the hashtags “Storm Chaser” and “Always Proud of You.”

Unfortunately, Kohli failed to reach his second consecutive hundred in the competition after being removed while attempting to do so with a huge heave over deep mid-wicket. He was eventually caught in the deep by Glenn Phillips, putting India on 269/6 after 47.4 overs and just five runs from victory.
The batsman from Delhi fell short by only five runs of matching the illustrious Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI hundreds (49). Against Bangladesh in India’s fourth World Cup match in Pune, Kohli recently reached his 48th ODI century. The great batsman will have plenty opportunities to exceed his hero in the ongoing cricket extravaganza with four league games and knockout games remaining in the tournament.
The 2023 ODI World Cup sees Virat Kohli become the leading run-scorer.
The 34-year-old also rose to the top of the list of the tournament’s best run scorers thanks to his innings, as he now has 354 runs from five matches, an average of 118, a strike rate of 90.53, and 103 fifties to his credit.
