Two teams have suffered injuries: the Sydney Thunder and the Hobart Hurricanes, who currently hold the top two spots in the Big Bash league 2024–25, respectively. Hurricanes key pacer Billy Stanlake will not be playing for the team this season due to a damaged shoulder, which will keep him out of the BBL for the rest of the season.
However, Daniel Sams, the Thunder’s bowling all-rounder, is out of commission. In the game when he was concussed, he sustained a side strain.
Sam suffered a concussion after colliding with his teammate Cameron Bancroft while fielding; he was had to follow a 12-day concussion protocol. He experienced side pain throughout the same game, though.
“I would want to thank everyone who has helped me during my recuperation.
“The encouraging and caring messages have been a huge help to me during this time,” Daniel Sams remarked.
“I’m really sorry that I can’t be on the pitch with the boys pushing for the championship and helping them succeed. However, he continued, “I’m really proud of this group and am looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish for the remainder of the season.”
The Hurricanes’ injury dispute is still ongoing.
In contrast, Stanlake hurt his right shoulder diving for a catch in the third over of the Hurricanes’ match against the Melbourne Renegades. Despite finishing the catch, he hit his bowling shoulder. He felt excruciating discomfort and had to dodge after attempting to bowl his second over in spite of it.
He was excluded from the remainder of the BBL after it was determined through scans that he had suffered a fracture to his right scapula. The Hurricanes are already coping with Lain Carlisle and Ben McDermott’s tournament injuries.
