The ICC Players of the Month for November 2024 are Danni Wyatt-Hodge of England and Haris Rauf of Pakistan, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
England’s dependable Wyatt-Hodge provided her signature fireworks in her team’s resounding short-format triumph over South Africa, while Pakistan’s Haris, a pacer, won the ODI series for the first time since 2002 thanks to his devastating bowling spells in Australia.
Haris defeated other quick bowlers Marco Jansen and Jasprit Bumrah to win the trophy in November and give Pakistan back-to-back victories after Noman Ali took home the honour in October.
But Danni Wyatt-Hodge defeats fellow nominees Sharmin Akhter of Bangladesh and Nadine de Klerk, an all-rounder from South Africa.
Haris played six One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) during the calendar month, taking 18 wickets in matches in Australia and Zimbabwe. With a remarkable average of 16.61, the Pakistani pacer claimed 13 ODI wickets, which signalled his ascent to a career-high 13th place in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings.
The rise in rankings followed the 31-year-old’s valiant performance in Pakistan’s historic home series victory over world champions Australia. Haris, who hasn’t played ODI for nearly a year, returned to the format with his usual speed and aggression. He took three for 67 in the opening match in Melbourne before tearing through the middle order in Adelaide with a remarkable five for 29 spell to tie the series in a Player of the Match performance.
Along with fellow fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, Haris performed even more magic in the series decider in Perth, taking two for 24 to dismiss the hosts for a respectable 140 and putting Pakistan on track for a historic triumph in the process.
Additional wickets were taken, this time in the ensuing Twenty20 International matches, and Haris’ impressive four for 22 in the second Sydney encounter served as a highlight of his comeback to form.
“It is an amazing honour to be named ICC Player of the Month, and I am truly humbled by this recognition,” stated Haris Rauf, the ICC Men’s Player of the Month. The combined efforts of my coworkers and the steadfast backing of our ardent supporters are responsible for this accomplishment, which is not just mine.
Wearing the Pakistani jersey is an honour, and experiences such as these inspire me to strive for greater success and push myself. In addition to looking forward to continuing to help Pakistan cricket succeed, I dedicate this honour to everyone who has supported me along the way.
The ICC Women’s Player of the Month, Wyatt-Hodge, was at her peak at the wicket in November’s matches, leading the order as England easily defeated South Africa in Twenty20 Internationals. The England player, who scored 142 runs at an average of 71 during the three-match series, is another player to reach her career-best ranking in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings in November.
After a slow beginning to the series in East London, the 33-year-old responded in the second game, smashing a magnificent 78 in 45 balls to give the tourists a resounding 36-run triumph in Benoni. The England veteran showed no signs of slowing down in the final game, as they won by nine wickets in Centurion with yet another elegant half-century without a loss.
“I am thrilled and honoured to receive this award,” said Danni Wyatt-Hodge, the ICC Women’s Player of the Month. My sincere gratitude goes out to all of my teammates and coaches who support me on a daily basis.
“We played South Africa in a fantastic Twenty20 International series, and our players put in some outstanding performances throughout. It has been quite satisfying for me personally to perform consistently, and as we prepare for the Ashes and another exciting cricket season that is approaching next year, our goal as a team and as individuals is to keep doing this.
