David Warner became the newest member of the 13,000-run club in T20 cricket after hitting his first fifty in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He accomplished this achievement in PSL 2025 Match 11 against Peshawar Zalmi, as he led his team home with 60 off 47 deliveries.
He thus becomes the first Australian player to break the 13,000-run mark and the sixth player to do it in T20 cricket.
Warner is only surpassed in T20 runs by Chris Gayle, Alex Hales, Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard, and Virat Kohli. In total, he is one of just three Australians to have scored over 10,000 runs in the format, following Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch.
David Warner has represented 14 Twenty20 teams; however, his most successful spell was with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
With a strike rate of 142.6, he amassed 4,014 runs at 49.56 for them. In 2016, he also guided them to the championship.
Warner, who is heading the Karachi Kings, did not have the best start to his PSL debut after going unsold in the IPL auction. After scoring 12, 0, 31, and 3 in his first four innings, he eventually performed well against Zalmi on Monday, April 21.
With six points from five games, the Kings are now ranked second in the PSL 2025 standings. On April 25 (Friday), they will play the Quetta Gladiators at Lahore.
