David Warner, a former cricket player for Australia, will now play in the Pakistan Super League and captain the Karachi Kings in the 2025 season. Interestingly, Warner also registered for the IPL 2025 big auction but was not sold. He therefore made the decision to play in Pakistan’s top T20 league for the current campaign.
David Warner was recently asked by a reporter why he chose to play in the PSL after going unsold at the IPL auctions.
Now that he is retired, Warner, who is playing in the PSL for the first time in his career, said he will enjoy his time as the Karachi Kings’ captain. Previously, the international schedule did not provide him enough time to play in the league.
It’s about playing cricket, in my opinion. And I have the chance to attend PSL because of this. I was unable to attend PSL because of the schedules on my foreign calendar. At the pre-game news conference, Warner responded to a question by saying, “Now that I’ve come here, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully we are able to win the trophy here.”

Speaking of the Karachi Kings’ next game, Match No. 3 is scheduled for April 12 and will pit the team against the Multan Sultans, led by Muhammad Rizwan. The Karachi Kings are experiencing a four-year title drought and have missed the playoffs the past two seasons, whereas the Sultans were the PSL finalists the prior three seasons. This season, Warner would like to rectify it and assist the team in returning to their peak performance.
After retiring, Warner has been participating in T20 leagues all over the world. He played in the 2025 season of the International League T20 (ILT20) after being spotted with the Sydney Sixers in the BBL. He now intends to use his batting to contribute in the PSL as well.
