Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a thrilling Super Over match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after both sides scored 188 runs in their 20-over innings.
After winning the toss, the Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl first. Jake Fraser-McGurk, the DC opener, failed once more. Abishek Porel (49 off 37) helped DC establish a commanding lead. The Capitals finished at 188/5 thanks to late fireworks from Stubbs (34* off 18) and Axar Patel (34 off 14). Two wickets were taken by Jofra Archer.
RR responded with a confident start to the chase. Sanju Samson appeared dangerous before leaving with an injury, while Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 51 off 37. After 20 overs, Shimron Hetmyer’s composed 15* helped RR tie the score at 188/4 thanks to quick blows from Nitish Rana.
With the match tied, the Super Over saw Mitchell Starc shine with the ball, restricting RR to just 11/2 with sharp pace and yorkers. In the chase, DC’s KL Rahul and Stubbs kept their cool, finishing the game in just four balls. Rahul struck a boundary first, and Stubbs followed up with another, sealing a sensational win.
