During Match 4 of the 2025 Women’s Premier League against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, the return of Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen gave the Delhi Capitals Women a boost.
Smriti Mandhana won the toss and chose to bowl first after making the right call. She explained why she chose to bowl first and pointed out the only alteration to the starting lineup.
“After 7-8 overs, the wicket has performed well, and dew has been an issue. Either way, we need to play well. [Last game] Kanika came in and bowled quite effectively. She also demonstrated intent with the bat. Two of our practice sessions have gone well. It’s crucial to get off to a strong start. During the toss, Smriti said, “One change, Ekta [Bisht] comes in for Prema [Rawat].”
Due to Kapp and Jonassen’s full recovery, Alice Capsey, an English batting all-rounder,
And Niki Prasad, the captain of the U19 Women’s World Cup, were benched. Meg Lanning, the DC-W skipper, communicated the decision.
“We also would have enjoyed going bowling. I’m eager to return to the field. You can choose from the entire squad today. Jess Jonassen and [Marizanne] Kapp return. “Niki [Prasad] and [Alice] Capsey miss out,” Lanning said.
In addition to scoring 16 runs off of 18 balls in her team’s season opener against the Mumbai Indians Women, Capsey recorded 1/25 in two overs.
