Virat Kohli’s mechanical issues, which have caused him to struggle in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, have been discussed by former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta. The 47-year-old said that in order to address his long-standing problem in the channel outside the off stump, Kohli will need to forget his favourite shot, the cover drive.
Both Virat Kohli and the Indian side have suffered greatly throughout the third Test in Brisbane.
The 36-year-old had a spectacular century in Perth to start the series, but since then, things have become worse. The Australian bowlers have continuously taken advantage of his weakness outside off stump, as seen by his past three scores of 7, 11, and 3. Former wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta is the latest expert to join the list of those who have offered their opinions on the matter.
“It’s crucial to occasionally play inside your limits as a player of your calibre. You have already demonstrated your greatness over the past ten to fifteen years, so everyone is aware of your abilities. Nothing more has to be demonstrated. Sometimes, though, you have to concentrate on staying inside your bounds. You can progressively increase those boundaries when you establish your rhythm. Don’t worry about your favourite shot for the first 20 balls. Star Sports was informed by Dasgupta.

Kohli’s performance in the series thus far has raised concerns for the Indian team, albeit his century in Perth. Over the course of the five innings in this series, he has scored 126 runs while averaging just 31.50. His test average has also fallen to 47.49 following a run of poor results.
